Title: Changing Omega 2003 Radiator

Hi All,

Seems like I have a crack in the side wall of the radiator on my 2003 2.2 CDX Estate. Can anyone point in in the direction of a) a decent 'cheap' supplier of replacement radiators and b) a step by step/video guide on how to remove/replace?

Easy enough to replace - needs a good waggle to get it out - a bit tight for space - and unplug bottom sensor on passenger side when rad about half way out ;)

Thanks dbug, I missed that one.

Do you know if you can replace only the end tanks, rather than the actual radiator part. I'm pretty sure that the leak is a crack on the passenger side end tank.

Fair enough...suppose its the sensible route!

Any guesses on how much a garage would charge to supply and replace?

Would you buy of ebay, there seems to be quite a swing in prices from 70 quid up to couple of hundred.

Seen this one...any good?

Please could someone confirm the radiator on any of these links will fit my 2003 2.2 Omega CDX Estate. Concious of parting with £100....

Sorry it is a bit late, you may have already taken the plunge but I have bought one of the £74 rads off eBay, looks fine. Looks like it is multifunctional as it has the connections for oil cooling as well but otherwise fine. Looks just like the original, well packaged and quick delivery. Fitting mine tomorrow!

Let me know if you want any more details.

The cheapo £50 from Adrad are fine. Used them a few times on various cars.

An Auto rad will fit autos and manuals, but a manual rad is unsuitable for and auto.

Your problem, IIRC, is later Omegas have the A/C pipes come over the top of the rad, which means disconnecting the A/C - visually check :y

ATF cooler pipes, not A/C ;) On the later cars the ATF cooler is external to the rad :y

Just a thought but if car is under heavy load and autobox has not "locked out " being that autobox is working hard and generating more heat this could also add to temperature climbing.

Interesting to know if its only cars with auto coolers within radiator that have this temp issue,as maybe worth expoloring the addition of an external atf cooler too if towing.

I've had both a MFL and a FL (integral oil cooler and external respectively) and had the same issue with both. A replacement Rad on the FL has completely cured the overheating issue :y

Possibly a radiator is then almost a service part and should be replaced every 5 years or so.

Sure the South Eastern corner with its hard water doesn,t help even if 50% of it is coolant thats still 4/4.5 litres of good old gravely water.Perhaps there is something to be said for only using distilled water after all.

Had planned on giving mine a thorugh flush out before winter so would be curious to see what comes out .
