I have read the other thread relating to the installation of the Nokia CK-7W bluetooth kit but have further questions that I couldnt figure from there.
Firstly, my car used to have a mobile phone cradle installed which plugged in at the drivers kick panel - can I use that plug to wire in this kit?
If so, does anyone know the pinouts for the plug - mostly I need to know where to splice in the speaker output so that it comes through the stereo speakers.
I'm using an aftermarket stereo so I will run the mute wire directly to the head unit.
Second - is there space behind the drivers kick panel for the control unit?
The rest of the wiring for it is pretty straightforward.

If its had a phonekit, chances are, there will be the required 0v, 12v, ign 12v, mute and audio wires available. I would run a seperate Nokia mic up the passenger A pillar and mount near mirror.

Ok done that. I used a section of the old car kit and splice the nokia loom directly into the wiring. It powers up fine and I have got it paired but there is no audio through the car speakers. I hooked up an old speaker straight to the CK7W and that works. :-\
Clearly Im missing something.

Are you getting radio to mute?

I havent connected that wire yet tbh.
I put the stereo on aux mode so that there was no conflicting sounds anyway.

Yes it's an aftermarket stereo - I said that in the first post. ::)
The problem I have is that the CK-7W was removed from it's previous vehicle by cutting the plugs off, so using a patch lead would be tricky too.
I guess what I need to know is how the patch lead is wired, so then I can duplicate that.

The mute wire should be present nearby. Presumably, you have wired phone audio into stereo phone input, which is likely to be different to the Aux input

So my plan is to solder it directly into a spare stereo loom, connecting the speaker output to both front speaker outputs.
Do you think that'll work?

Thats not recommended. At all.
Whilst it might not tune the stereo or carkit to channel smoke initially, it certainly won't do either of them any favours.
Does the stereo have a phone input?

Unfortunately not.

The CK-7W comes with a loudspeaker that is intended to be mounted somewhere safe in the cabin.
The standard VX radios all have a phone input so the speaker isn't required. The safest way to use your CK-7W is to get hold of a suitable speaker and mount in in the passenger footwell.

According to Nokia's website the CK7W supports and 'audio through the speakers' configuration. I know that I can use an autoleads adapter to do this, and it would sit between the stereo and the car's loom.
My thinking is that surely the autoleads adapter will do pretty much what I was going to do.

Well thanks for making me research further....
It seems that while I was right in that there is a patch lead, the lead incorporates a relay setup to allow the sound through. It seems to me that that would be there to prevent a feedback surge into the head unit or handsfree.
Just gonna have to shell out for the adapter which is going to cost more than I paid for the hands free!

You will also notice that the speaker cones don't last too well, due to barbaric way those shit autoleads adapters switch via relays.
I would fit the Nokia speaker, or replace the nasty stereo with one that has the required input.

I will bear that in mind. Unfortunately the one I found was quite literally the only one I could find so not alot of room for picking a better quality item.
In the mean time I'll get a carpass ordered so I can get the original head unit back in.

I took your advice and refitted the original stereo, then wired the CK-7W into the plug behind the glovebox. As my car had an old Ericsson handset in it when I bought it I was able to cut the wiring off of the old unit and splice it to the Nokia.
The only downside is that it has no switched 12v input but that's not essential anyway so I'll address that at a later date if it causes any problems. Of course the upside is that if I want to remove it I can just unplug it rather that having to cut it out.

There should be a W contact there Murph :y
(W contact on Omega (its a really old term, and slightly different on modern cars) is a wire that goes 12v when ign switched on, and goes off when the key is removed (not when just switched back to Off from I or II))

I'm sure there is, but as the Ericsson didnt use it I dont have a wire from the plug to connect to.
Once I'm a little more mobile I'll get under there and splice into the wire behind the plug.
