Title: reconstruction
Post by: steff32 on 31 July 2012, 17:32:54
Hi, I'm quite å noob here on this forum so I really don't know where to place this post, so I just post it here:p

The omega i have is a 2,2 cd 2000.

Is it possible to buy å 3,2 2000 , and just move, the engine, transmittion, seats, and all of the electronics from the 3,2 , to the 2,2 ?
because in norway, where I live, there were no Opel omega 3,2 sold.
And importing one is WAY to expencive, because of all the taxes.

So I came up with a plan to buy this 3,2 2000 in germany, and ship it to norway, and then rebuild the 2,2 into a 3,2 !

enyone here knows if it is possible for me to do it ? (amateur mechanic) or how much it will cost to have it done?

Answers will be quite helpfull (:

Norway's import taxes will make importing a car too expensive.
However if it's bought in for parts it will never be registered in Norway, and the parts can be installed in the already registered shell.

the taxes are too high...
it would cost me 150000nok ( 20000eu) to import this 3,2 ( in taxes only )
so i think it would be cheapest to just move everything over to my 2,2omega. that would cost me 0 in taxes ;D

How would you insure the 3.2 car? Presumably it would get a higher rating being a one off in your country?

it wouldent be to xpencive, because insurence goes alot on crash statistics, and its not a new car, so it would not cost so much.

there were no 3,2 sold here, BUT there were some imported from germany. so they exist i norway, but not many, and most automatic ( i need it with a manual gearbox ) :p

From my recollection most Norwegian insurance companies treat the omega 3,0 and the 3,2 as the same. Im paying around 4000 kr (400£) for my 3,0.
