Post by: The Red Baron on 01 August 2012, 19:25:42
as above really.
right, im married to a french gal, she had 2 kids with her then french hubby.
he now has both the kids here in england, at the moment he is claiming csa for one. no doubt he will go for the second. at the moment im seperated from the wife but with a view to coming back for my lil girl(3rd child with me).
the amounts wifey has to pay is daft even for the one child.
does anyone know who the best folks are to talk to about this.  :(

This is a subject close to my heart having separated 10yrs ago and leaving three young boys. I have always paid there way they are after all mine and i am not one for shirking my responsibilities, however i started to pay the X cash and all seemed well until i asked for some kind of receipt then the problems began and me and the CSA became the best of enemy's.

I could run with this story for days but wouldn't want to bore you all i can say is do your up most to keep the CSA on side keep tabs on everything. They arnt very accommodating to genuine peoples plights and sob stories wont wash but they are the only people you can deal with.

If your one of the lucky ones and you have a reasonable relationship still with your X then go the cash route ensuring you are receipted for i. Agree an amount between you that suits both parties and keep the CSA of your backs because once they get a grip there like dogs with bones.

Lastly dont bother with the likes of citizen Advise as they will only point you in the path of the CSA.

Good luck. Steve.

My bro worked for the CSA when I split up with my beloved daughters mum, first thing he said was dont hand her any cash put it through as a standing order so there is an audit trail and keep as far away from the CSA as possible. It used to be 15% for one kid and another 5% for further kids. I pay a little over the odds to keep her sweet and it has worked for the last 8 yrs!  PS dont forget to reduce your payments for any nights the kid spends with you.

Good luck with what can be a nightmare situation

CSA are a law upon there own,no1 will take up a legal case against them,I'm currently living on £630 a month after CSA have there share, even doing payments through a bank will not be a proof of income as it is going straight to the ex ,hope you get it sorted  :y

.... dont hand her any cash put it through as a standing order so there is an audit trail and  ....

A spark where I used to work split from his other half and paid her via the bank. She, being greedy & thought that she'd get more through the CSA, told lies that he wasn't paying up etc etc until he could point to his bank statement!  ;) ;) ;) :y

And in cases where they know the ex is being spiteful and lying they can suddenly become very supportive of dad!!

I'm not sure if this is true, but I bloke I worked with a few years ago told me that his ex went to the CSA to see if she could get more money.  :-\

He'd been paying his ex regularly, saw his son all the time, and as far as he was aware it was all amicable between him and his ex... Until the envelope from the CSA landed on the doormat!!  ::)

Then it became a complete nightmare!! CSA delving into his finances with a fine toothcomb.... Ex wouldn't let him see his son.... Loads of rows and bad feeling all round etc etc  :(

The upshot was that he had to pay more directly to the CSA than he did before, and the CSA then paid her less than what she got before and the CSA kept the difference for admin costs!!!  >:(

Like I said though I'm not sure if the story was true....  :-\
