After many posts on the "crap" Opening Ceremony, the cost, the politics, if you forget about all that for a second. Actually think about the everyday people taking part, we are currently 4th in the Medal Table, with 18 in total!
6 Gold, 6 Silver, 6 Bronze.
We have a good chance of going ahead of Korea too if this Gold rush continues....
What a fantastic achievement all around! :y :y :y :y

Yep! Lot of hard work by lots of dedicated peeps and usually done on a 'shoestring' with some significant financial and personal input from family & supporters so that individuals can achieve their Olympic 'dream' & the Nation bask in the reflected Glory! :y

Got to admit, starting to get right into this olympic business :y
Drooled over cheered on Jess Eniss this morning like a big kid :-[ :-[
Even the dog looked at me and run in his cage ;D ;D
Had a lump in my throat when the 2 british lasses won the gold in the sculling and the bloke who got the bronze in the 1 man sculls got some serious respect in the gonads household :y
I don't think I have ever seen a competitor so knackerd after a race :y
One thing I will say tho, I wish they would cut out this Team GB crap .................. Just call us GREAT BRITAIN :y :y
-
Should actually be called Team U.K. or Team United Kingdom. It isnt team GB or Great Britain. ;)
-
Great showing from Great Britain. Well done the athletes.
Only found out today that as well as the medal you get prize money of about £16k for gold, 10k for silver and £6k for bronze. The yanks tax their athletes winnings.

Even I - disinterested in sport, and pretty cynical about the whole affair had quite a feeling of patriotism when 80,000 people cheered Jessica Ennis and sang along to the National anthem. 6 gold medals today for team GB. a hell of a day for British sport. :)
I might even be tempted to attend this week. ::)

Still ......... we're 3rd on the medal table! :y :y :y :y

I hate to say it, but I'm rather pleased they are out of the Football, ineffectual boring rubbish I blame Giggs and his sheep shaggers ;D ;D

Me n the Mrs where blubbing away every 5 mins watching it. The roar ... Omg!
Long jump. Mo Farah. Jes Ennis. The crowd are so up lifting. How do athletes perform with that roar, and not tie up blubbing. ;D
Impressive stuff. :y
