Title: Rear nearside shock absorber.
Post by: Drewomega on 06 August 2012, 14:24:40
Hi! Can anybody tell me where I can get hold of a couple of rear shocks for my 2.6. It has failed the MOT and I also need rear pads as well. An idea of price would also be great. Thanks in advance. :y

Also do I need the self levelling types, or can I get away with ordinary shocks? The mechanic said there was an electrical plug on the side. Is this going to the sensors? He also stated that his motor factors don't do that particular type?? Thanks.

have a look under the rear wheel arches at the side of the shock absorber. If they both have a small (1/8th inch approx diameter black plastic pipe coming out of them held in place by a metal clip then you have self levellers. That being the case if you want to replace like with like then your only choice is Vauxhall. Even with trade club discount you are looking at around £150.

Saloon rear shocks are different to Estate.

If you don't have self levelling (here is hoping) then you can buy off Ebay or a good upgrade are Bilstein B4's. Can't remember where I got mine from. The place was recommended by Marks DTM.
