Title: Port and Polishing
Post by: RN55ONE on 07 August 2012, 10:20:00
3 weeks ago i did a port and polish (still need to completely finish it off) the throttle body, plenum and inlet on my 3.0 v6.

I have noticed a consistent 1.5mpg increase and smoother acceleration.
I usually get 40mpg at 56mph (even higher if I do 53mph).

After porting and polishing I am getting 41.5mpg at 56mph consistently.

I am running a 3.8bar FPR, and have been for a long time now - even before the port and polish.
I always use the same petrol station and travel to work on the same route using cruise control as soon as i join the carriageway.

Maybe its something else, but I just wanted to share this info and see if anyone else has noticed any improvement.

I know 1.5mpg is not a huge gain, but better than nothing I guess.

Port n Polishing is massively under-rated. Might do mine whilst I've got the heads off  :y

If you've upped the fuel pressure it will have put the calibration of the fuel consumption out, so I'm sorry to say that will be the reason for the apparent improvement in fuel economy.
