I knew there were two star silvers so it was going to be a gamble buying "vauxhall star silver" from halfords...and of course, i lost. Wrong colour. Bum.
-
is there not different codes for rthem? will in not be on the VIN plate?
-
147 is star silver 2
-
yeah i think i'm just going to have to take a trip to vaux stealership in a few and make sure it's the right one this time!
-
I think mine must be SS I then because it's 82L on the VIN

I thought all the facelifts SS were 147?
-
mine is the 1998 mini-facelift.
This is where my confusion lies - according to vauxhall, SS I ended in 1997, and SS II (Bertone) came in in 1999. I now have vauxhall genuine paint (sold in a set of paint and lacquer) from VX Dealer so have to see how it looks!!
It wouldn't be so bad if the suage line on the car was lower because then there'd be a nice cut-off line to work to. As it stands, painting to the suage would mean redoing 80% of the rear 3/4 panel and the whole lower section of the door.
Assuming the paint looks ok, the next plan is to do the door trims because I think the black makes the car look quite dated. Only difficulty there is what to do about the silvery trim..
