Title: Boot won't close?
Post by: cyrusthevirus on 13 August 2012, 18:07:50
My boot  lid  ('96 saloon) won't close yet I can't see anything wrong with the lock. Luckily it didn't fly open on my way home! Any ideas what could be causing it? thanks

Is it closing properly, but not latching? Or simply not closing far enough?

hi, yep it moves down fine but won't latch/lock shut so the bootlid flaps about. The latch doesn't move, lock seems to be free... very odd. thanks

OK, remove ineer liner, make sure its all free to move, then either unseize or replace faulty part.

Have you tried checking security of latch mechanism? I had same problem on my old senator and it turned out to be the latch flapping about and not lining up

Fixed! Tricky to explain but the black plastic ratchet hook had fallen below the metal hoop on the lock. Just had to poke it back in with a screwdriver. Pretty obvious with the liner off. Cheers
