Sometimes my gears feel stiff say for example I get in car in morning depress clutch and then it wont go into 1st or reverse then if I try 3rd then 1st its any ideas
-
Drain the gearbox and then top up with fresh oil - not too expensive from VX.
That should sort you out.
-
Is that a fairly easy job
-
It's not too bad a job, just be careful cos old gear oil stinks!
-
it's ATF, don't forget.

In a manual ? ???

In a manual ? ???
nothing unusual about ATF in a manual 'box ;) ;)

Unheard of when I used to drive manual cars, but that was just after they started fitting steering wheels instead of a lever. :D ;D
-
My 2.5 used to do this, it got slowly worse and then the clanking rattling noise started. It would sound like bag of nuts n bolts when the clutch was disengaged so I always assumed it was a flywheel/clutch issue and something was coming loose or breaking. Never got round to looking into it as the car had other reasons why I wasn't going to be spending too long trying to fix it.
-
Could also be the clutch dragging slightly due to contamination or a poor seal in the hydraulic system. Worth changing the gear oil first though.
-
My clutch was definately dragging.
-
the clutch feels fine its almost like the linkage is stiff . to change the oil do i just undo the plug on the side and then refil until it dribbles out
-
fresh gearbox oil can make the world of difference. But as stated the old stuff does stink and can stain driveways badly
-
I would be tempted to change the gear oil (Vx only!!) and reverse bleed the hydraulics (easy peasy job) :y
