Title: more torque please
Post by: omgj on 17 August 2012, 08:53:57
Hi got a new 3.0l v6 and have had a previous ex police model, this new one dosent seem as quick!?

was wondering if the longer plenum and possibly removing one or both of the valves in the inlet would give me more bottom end torque?

its quick but only really when revved hard and my old one was much better lower down than this one is  :(

any help would be much appreciated  :)

could well just be down to gearing and LSD on one, and not the other.

plus even 2 seemingly identical cars often have very different power later on in their lives.

Playing with the multiram will lower your power, not increase it.

Check the multirams are working if bottom end is a bit down.

Also remember some ex-plods had a different diff, effectively lowering the gearing for better acceleration

May be worth checking the timing belt to see if its on the marks as well :y

If there is a step at 4000rpm and a noticeable take off, suspect a non working multi ram.

ECU controlled for rpm and load. So to test, check you have a good vacuum, which is still preset minutes after you have turned off engine.

If you have, rev it fast and hard to 5k. You should see them move. But check the vac first (and vac layout, as per the maintenence guide)
