Title: strange window problem
Post by: SMD on 19 August 2012, 15:47:04
My rear passenger window will not close from drivers switch. It moves up but comes back down when it gets to within 2 inches of closing but closes fine with the switch on that door.

Any ideas of what the problem could be?

Have you tried resetting it?

Beyond that, lube it :y

Not tried resetting it, dont know how to. But it seems to have fixed itself  :y   It could do with a bit of lube though, where is the best place to apply it and what type?

Not tried resetting it, dont know how to.  ......

Press & hold 'up' on the switch till you hear a faint click from within the door, normally only needed if the power has been disconnected - restores one shot closure & total closure from door lock or fob.  :y

Phantom window problem is back. The once touch function does not work on the door and the drivers switch. Same problem as before, window tries to close but comes back down. Window can be closed on both controls gradually (raise window bit at a time and will eventually close)

As Jamie suggests, try lub'ing it. It sounds as though the anti-trap is triggering because the window is sticking in the guides.

Problem seems to have gone away (again, hopefully for good this time). As I closed the window, I put my hand on glass and gave it a little nudge. Seems to have done the job.  :y
