Title: Annoying sqeak
Post by: mhwest on 20 August 2012, 16:42:04
After replacing cam kit, water pump, auxiliary belt and various other things, there is a squeak around the front pulley area when rev up goes only on tick over also after 5min or more just audible, can only think of alternator or air con pulley maybe air pump one way valve the list goes on could ignore as i can not hear it sat in car, is this just a wearing in process  :(

Remove the aux belt, start it up and run for just 15 seconds or so.

See if the noise remains  :y

you can run it for a bit longer than 15secs with no water pump running  ;) ;) as long as you're not revving the nuts off it.  :y

I don't like running engine for too long, knowing no coolant is going around it.

Can usually tell very quickly, if its gone its gone. If its still there, cam belt cover and belt need to come off!

But see what you are saying  :)
