Title: EML on : O2 sensor1 and Knock sensor2 fault codes
Post by: Johnny English on 20 August 2012, 18:42:27
I read off almost all the threads in point of these and possibly there is no any relation between them just want to ask you gurus how I can make difference between the two phenomenons. In the first case EML on and occurs nothing (or I feel nothing), at the second variant EML on and I have to start playing with accelerator pedal and miggy gets react quite slowly as if she worked in "economical" operation mode...Two oxy sensors and crank sensor were swapped 1k ago, plug cables 2k ago, DIS pack and knock sensors nobody knows when...Please strength me that I must check wires of oxy sensor and the questioned knock sensor DIS pack checking is also recommended. I'm not sure of how I check DIS though, as I've read some similar threads unplug knock sensor and start the engine that gives misfire because of lack of knock signal. In case of having good condition the DIS will survive but not if got any trouble. Isn't there other method to examinate that at all? Can't I measure it anyhow? Fault codes 17 (knock signal circuit2) and 38 (O2 circuit1 low voltage). Bank1 is driver's side of you, the rust-brown knock plugs I find at the EGR and below the cable tray ,which runs alongside the engine.

Must admit I'm nervous a bit as standing at the beginning of a long trip after tomorrow...
Any advice or proposal warmly welcomed.
