Title: Is it worth braking a 2.0 mini facelift???????
Post by: lee4206 on 20 August 2012, 22:02:29
As above.
My brother has asked me if I want his 98 2.0lt gls before he scraps it.  Its mechanically sound (needs a maf sensor but runs fine), cdx leather interior, recent lower arms, reasonable tyres(budget 17"), lowering springs, mesh grill, body is in fairly good condition and would go through a mot no problem.

Bearing in mind I don't want this on my drive for weeks. Would it be worth me taking it and braking it (he's had it up for sale with 5 months tax for £350 with no interest).

Opinions please...

get it - save the wheels and sell them on here. Advertise anything else for a week or two and then scrap it.

Lee, where has he been advertising it ? I keep a resaonable eye on the local ads and can't say I have seen it. Sold my last car on Gumtree it sold the same day (horrid little Saxo)

Good luck with whatever you decide to do with it, last one I weighed in was a V6 at Silverlake and got £220 for it delivered to them or they would offer £180 if they collected it.

The wheels are from a vectra and not in great condition but I suppose I have nothing to loose by trying.

As far as I know he put it on gumtree and in local shop Windows ect. It does have a couple of faults that he's listed so maybe that's why no interest.
Tbh if I didn't already have 3 cars I'd have it as a keeper as it was my old one and I know it inside out.
Silver lake has offered him £150 and  we buy any car offered £120 if he left the 5mths tax on it (that gave me a giggle).
I  just thought if  theres anything worth stripping out and selling it might make a bit more..

if all it needs is a maf sensor i'd replace it for him and tell him he's got to keep the car!  :y

He's already got a new car so I don't think he'd listen to me.
