Radiator fan conundrum.
It is not an Omega but a Vitara with Peugeot running gear - loom, rad, fan etc
To my slight consternation the rad fan has never run in the last 10 months - hot or cold weather. The engine temp is always quite acceptable.
Diagnostics. The fan works with 12v across the loom plug. It works when you disconnect the wiring plug to the temp sensor in the thermostat housing with engine running. (My garage suggested at that point that I mustn't run it with it disconnected and that the sensor was probably faulty).
Bought a new sensor and that makes no difference.
Posted on a Peugeot forum and got one response!" On a 407 something similar can happen - fan doesn't come on high but putting 12v direct to the fan works, and all relays are good.
The usual solution is a new wiring loom and fan unit."
A new loom I suspect would cost an arm and a leg being as it is a factory fit Peugeot engine in a Suzuki Vitara. I can't however get my head around why changing the fan unit would help. It only has two wires going to it. A feed and an earth. I could get one from a breakers yard here if need be. Maybe also the relay If I can figure out which one it is!!
To my question, any more diagnostic suggestions ?

Just bypass that section of the loom .............
