Title: eml light and codes read
Post by: bellers on 25 August 2012, 19:26:36
my eml light comes on and flickers. seems to be only on at low rpm and then goes of at higher rpm. then after a bit of driving at low rpm comes back on

done paperclip and got 17 and 16 knock sensor currnet 1 and knock sensor currnet 2. any aidea what could be it issue. i dont notice any affect on driving possibly a bit slow pick up at low revs but i could be imagining it  :)

thanks

Checked the wires for knock sensors and nothing trapped or no damage to them.
Took it for a good run tonight and doesnt seem to affect driving at all pulls right through revs with no missfire or flat spots

if the lights are on, and they are only codes, it will be holding back.

I'd clear the codes out, reset BLMs, and start afresh, see what comes back.

Given the fault codes given earlier, I guess its either a 2.5/3.0 V6, or a pre 1997 2.0l.

For the 2.5/3.0, tech2 or similar device needed. Don't think a code reset rests BLMs, but honestly can't remember.
For a Pre 1997 2.0l, tech1 or similar. Ditto with BLMs.

The EOBD compatible cars reset trims BLM when you clear codes, but that not relevent to you.

An EOBD/OBDII reader can't do it, so you need a proprietry scanner thats capable of reading codes and resetting BLMs.  Tech2 is the dealer level tool to do this, but other tools may be able to as well.

Not uncommon for erroneous MAF codes. Looking at live data allows an expereinced operator to know if the MAF is toast.

Dealer will be a waste of space, and charge you a fortune it parts you don't need.

Is there a nearby member? Having a location in your profile helps with this ;)
