Hi Guys,
Got a 2000 Omega 2.5 that has started to shake rather heftily, the entire car shakes, even when idling. It came after I had been driving normally without a problem, turned off the car for five seconds, then on again and them the vibration started in the entire car. Also at the same time my fuel gauge read empty while my comp said it had 60 kms left in the tank. (computer was right)
I left it for a few hrs after untilI had to drive again, but the problem persists, except then the gauge was back to what it should be (almost). It seems to handle normally but something is obviously wrong. I am wondering if it could be AC related or spark plugs?
It is not over heating, all gears work smoothly (manual gear) so wondering if any of you have an idea of where I need to look?
Thanks in advance! (:

It does sound like you could have a problem with the sparkplugs, may be worth checking the coil pack, plugleads and the plug wells too.
The plug 'wells' can fill up with either water or oil which can cause a misfire.

Yep sounds like ignition issue mate - not running on all 6. First I'd look at plugs, then leads and latlt DIS pack :y
Had the same on mine - it was DIS pack

Hey guy's it's a 2.5. That makes it a desmond AFAIK :-\
I which case it would be loss of fuel or compression on a cylinder, poss HG or glowplug leak or something.
Not really got any knowledge on diesel's just struck me as off track as to suggestions :-[

It could be a 2.5 V6 or a 2.5 straight 6 TD, but as the OP mentions spark plugs, I would have to assume the former. :y

I am corrected. Did not know of the 2.5 V6 thought they where 2.6 and up :-[
note to self - check before engaging keyboard ::)

They can be either petrol or diesel.

"Desmond Diesel" or even "tractor" is the way I always took it as. Been wrong before and will be again, still learning even at my age ;) ::)
Thanks for the info about what and when but with it being a 2000 2.5 I assumed it was a TD
I'm sure the next post from the op will straighten things out :y

Desmond is also a slang term for a 2.2 degree - also known as the drinkers degree - some may take it to mean a 2.2 lit in a car context ;)

Hi guys,
Thank you for your advice and expertise. I've had someone take a ...listen... and spark plugs or a cylinder not firing is reported the likely culprit.
It doesn't have all of its usual power (stutters a bit in it) but still has most of it. Also, from time to time there can be a slightly burnt smell, which I was told could be a cylinder issue due to too low temp on gas burning...
Oh and as you've surmised, it is indeed a 2.5 V6 petrol engine, sorry for not stating that before. :)
I'll go have it checked out and see what is what. Thanks again!
