Title: 2 button fob or 3 or flip key help
Post by: Y26SE on 27 August 2012, 08:04:31
Hi everyone. I've recently acquired another omega. An 02 2.6 estate  and I'm just going through the jobs. But on the electrical side of things the driver door motor doesn't run but when you hit the plip everything unlocks except the driver door so I've ordered a motor off eBay. The other is I only have the one key and I wanted to sort a spare out but eBay is full of variations. I have an S-AM 2 button fob but on eBay they're are options for flip key and 5224 things and with and without alarm and whatever else. The point being what key will work after a tech 2 on the omega. Does it have to be the same as I have now or can I fit any old 433mhz fob. I have an alarm on this one as I found out when I opened the bonnet with just the key used in the driver door lol.

Thanks

Mark

There is a world beyond Ebay. Generally, ebay is quite expensive  :-X

But for the fob, if you have access to TC, I'd buy from a dealer:
a) overcomes variations problems
b) won't have the problems of tired buttons, knackered batt holders and all the other things affect 2nd hand ones.

If you don't have TC access, PM andyc ;) :y

I've recently been through a whole list of jobs on my 01 Y26SE including key fobs! I have used loads of advice from the forum for all of the jobs. I did use the dealer for replacement fobs job, mine were completely shot. The fobs did need recoding to the ECU and for convenience, I asked them to do it. I know there are OOF members who can sort most key fob issues if you have time to find them and sort it with them.
