Title: MAF Fitted
Post by: chelskifl on 31 August 2012, 13:34:29
Omega 3.0 elite estate 1997  car was not starting , well would with a lot of effort, so i odb2 came up low voltage MAF, so i purchased a new MAF fitted. cleared error codes runs ok. the problem i have before the problem MAF i could turn the key no throttle startup no problem, no i need to apply a little throttle to start, also if engine idling, and i depress the throttle quickly ,, there is a slight delay before pick like dead spot
if i depress normally seems ok, i have ordered a new air filter to see if its that. i have been told it takes 20 miles for the ecu to setup after MAF fitting .... is that True?

Also looking at the back of the engine top under scuttle there is a Rubber Hose about an inch across not connected no clip on it can not see where it goes looks like it goes down to the sump could it be a breather, please advise

You will get more help with this if you post it in Omega General Help  :y

The big pipe sounds like its the one that goes from the back of the plenum down to the breather box on the back (drivers side) of the engine

Hi, your profile doesn't say what car and auto /manual etc. Assuming it is an auto the tube will be the gearbox breather pipe. It doesn't coonect to anything at the back of the engine compartment.

Has the ICV (idle control valve been cleaned) - worth doing anyway and an easy enough job.

got a couple of clips missing on the air filter box, dont know were to get those from might adapt couple of tie raps.. seems to be sealed ok though,, it's just puzzling when i throttle really quick it's lick a slight lag at the start. if i do it steady ok... i have a new air filter on order maybe that will cure the problem any ideas would be helpfull and thanks about the pipe breather auto.. its just when you have had the car for such a long time you know how she rock and rolls.....

no cable ok , if i use throttle from engine end .. same fault .. it's like its gasping for fuel if that makes sense  it's only a moment before pick up..  if i increase the revs ever so slightly better  :( just thinking i have some weight in the back at the moment would that effect throttle response,,,,, grabbing at straws now arn't i
