Title: Anybody here with a lightweight flywheel?

Is there anybody on here with a lightened flywheel?
Just wondering how the car was to drive after the change from a DMF, as I'm thinking of changing to a lightened flywheel myself

yes - i have two cars with aluminium flywheels. Expect slightly poorer idle, better acceleration in 1st, slightly better acceleration in 2nd and 3rd. No effect in 4th and 5th. Better gearchange characteristics. Some noise in 1st and second gears at really low revs.

Are you pretty sure of swapping dmf? It gets intensity of harmful and unconfortable vibration down so I would think again if I were you. Good luck with it mate!  :y

How light are the flywheels?
What do you mean by poorer idle?
Did you feel any loss of torques?

If you have had both original and lightweight, which do you prefer?


Are you pretty sure of swapping dmf? It gets intensity of harmful and unconfortable vibration down so I would think again if I were you. Good luck with it mate!  :y

DMF is not a device for reducing engine vibration - it's a device for reducing transmisasion vibration.

The one I've got in the Holden for instance is some 10kg lighter than the original one and it boosts acceleration quite considerably.

BUT, it's got over 300 lb/ft at 1000 revs, so any loss in torque would not be noticeable, even if it were to happen.
