Title: Leather interior into 52 plate 2.2CD
Post by: DezB on 10 September 2012, 22:39:42
Hi Folks

I'm sure that this has been covered before but I can't find a definitive answer.

I have a 52 plate 2.2CD and would love to add a leather interior.  I currently have side airbags, electric up/down, forward/rear movement and heated seats with the variable setting.

Is it possible to fit a leather interior and if so which donor car would be the best one to use please?

Is the wiring loom currently in place have all the right connectors for the extras that leather seats might come with or would it require having to do some modifications?

Hoping someone can help.

Cheers

DezB

You can retrofit the seats from the same era so a facelift car in your case. Most of the wiring is there but you will need to make a small modification which is covered in the maintenance guides.

As an added extra, I believe that you will also need the bolts for the front seats from the donor car.

If you fit the full bells-and-whistles Elite seats :y

You could also put leather MV6 interior which is electric height adjustment but manual forward and backwards but has heated seats and they are also recaro type(wraparound),  :y

Hi Folks

Many thanks to all who responded, my confidence in attempting this is growing.

I'm gradually putting everything right on the car and would love to top it off with the leather interior.

Thanks again

Just fitted full leather elite to my GLS, now have full electric seats, the minor mod mentioned took all of 10minutes to do,(thanks MarksDTM) now getting looms ready to run all the heated seats, lots of advice from LincRob helped, in my case the looms apart from switches for the heated seats are not there but eleite looms obtained and working slowly at it.

I swapped the interior in mine recently, four bolts per seat at the front, make sure you use the right size as they are quite tight and it easy to strip the top (I had to drill one out). The connectors should be the same if you using non elite seats. The rears are easy, should only take a couple of hours to do the lot. My interior was only £40.

You also need to be aware that the heaters in the leather seats are different to the cloth ones and frequently fail with age - so it might be the case that the heaters in your new leather seats dont actually work. They are also very difficult to mend - with repairs tending to last a limited time as the next weakspot is found.

Also alot of CD spec cars had leather from the factory, so if you are happy with the range of adjustment that they offer, then it really is a staightforward swap :y
