Title: 3.0v6 Auto - Code 13

Hello All,

I have had a minor problem for a few weeks. When the car is in drive and I am at a junction with my foot on the brake pedal I get an occasional hunting(revs drop very slightly and only for a split second). Otherwise the car is perfect.

I have just done the paperclip test (isn't it easy). And I have a code 13 - O2 sensor 1 open circuit.

What is the best way to test, or resolve this problem?
Should I just buy a sensor and replace it or could it be something else?

Best to get it on a scanner / code reader and check the sensor voltages imo  :y

Do I need to use an expensive one, or would a cheap scanner do the trick? :)

If you can get live data on it then your in business  :y
Should bounce around between 0 and about 800mv.

When mine went tits up, it was stuck on 450mv  :(
You should note that if the fuel trims are well out (caused be a knackerd sensor) it won't do you pistons any good and will do crap mpg so get it sorted asap  ;)

Was the drop in voltage due to a faulty sensor. If so, I should just change mine :-X :-X

Yes  :y

They should range between 0 and 1000mv (1 volt).
My car run with no problems other then the eml light popping on and storeing the code and it was only doing about 12 mpg (down from 22 mpg)  :'(

Iirc, Kevin Wood is the forum o2 expert so he or one of the other lads can tell you more about how they work but changeing it did the job for me  :y
