Title: Face Lift Boot lock (key fob)
Post by: Mr Skrunts on 14 September 2012, 00:12:07
So hacked off, 3rd time now I think I have popped the boot with the remote thinking I was locking the Elite, (doing it without thinking)  Sadly I think it cost me the lose contents of the boot including a brand new Vx cargo net that had never been used, a box load f bulbs and a load of other stuff the prious owner passed on to me.

Went out shopping earlier and as I walked past the CD boot I realised it had been popped again.

Can it be disabled at all so that it only works on the dash realease.

Just asking the question ......  ::)
Do you not have to press & hold the boot relase button to pop the boot? Having only owned a PFL I have only had a manual boot lid.  ;) :y

The tailgate release on the R Class needs the fob button to be pressed & held for a few seconds ......  :-\

Nah, it's instantaneous from the fob but there is a delay when using the dash button.

Such an option does not exist on the inferior facelift model.  I find the whole boot thing annoying, even after 2 facelifts and well over 2 years of owning facelifts.

I'm just waiting to lock myself out of my Merc! ??? The tailgate will open even when the rest of the car is locked, so, like a facelift Omega, it'll be easy to leave the keys in the car & then close the tailgate.  ::) ::)

We`ve all been there.
Wonder if a tell-tail light could be cobbled together?
Or maybe tap into the on-board sytem to illuminate one of dash warning lights.

The switch on the dash does light up when the boots open, I'm lucky as I've never locked the keys in the boot, only needed to pull over twice to shut the boot too... ;)

So whats the situation regards the alarm, does the alarm get turned off whilst the boot is unlocked, does it rearm itself after a set ?

Lets face it, after being locked out of my elite when I first had it and the locks were tight my mate crawled into the boot, through the rear seat opening and undid the lock on the door to gain entry.  Would hate that situation if the boot were accidently unlocked. :-\

Why dont put a small nylon nut or plastic washer or something around the small black part of the micro switch, hence stopping it being functional.
