Help!! My timing chain has jumped and it sounds like a bag of spanners. Is anyone out there willing to take this job on, and how much will it cost? what is involved, is it something I could attempt myself?

Officially, its a head off and sump off job. A right 'mare.
You'll likely need to replace the guides, chains and sprockets whilst its all off.

never m ind officially!! lol
its quite possible to change chains and guides with head on, its doable by a reasonably skilled mechanic or someone with mechaincal skills(note the pun)
elite pete has done it not sure if he did a guide or not but a pm will or should ellicit the steps necessary to do it :y

Yeah, worked out about £200 from BMW, Vauxhall were loads more expensive. The £200 was about 3 years ago though

Good luck with this; I am contemplating this job on mine too and wondering if there is a good 'how to' anywhere here or on the net for this tricky procedure.
I had seen with my old car a friend do the cam chain with just the rocker cover off as mentioned using a split chain and putting a joiner link in it, but i suppose this is no good if you wan to replace the cogs and tensioner as well, which of course makes sense.
I have also seen on e-bay a 'kit' with all the parts included to do the job, could anyone recommend to us a good seller for the parts or should we just get it all at BMW?
