Ive had a few problems with my 2.5 petrol, it has been running lumpy (popping on idle) and it stinks of rotten eggs when warm. Ive been getting faultcode 133 intake voltage 2 volts low, any ideas
-
rotten eggs, id look at the Catalytic converter
-
Dis pack :y check it and see if its split , when mine was running rough it made the cats stink ..Ht leads and plugs should be checked also :y
-
New leads n plugs fitted aswell as new O rings on the inlet, were is the dis pack?
-
The dis felt fine when i fitted the leads but i cant get a decent look at it, is there an easy way to remove it or am i goi g to have to strip most of the bay to get acess to it
-
Im still struggleing with this if anyone has any other ideas

First off pull your plug leads and see if there is any oil in there.
If they are dry, proceed to the pack :(
If the coilpack is on its way out, they tend to split underneath the pack so you can't see it from the top.
To remove the pack you need to (and believe me, i've done loads ::))
Wiper arms
Plastic trim infront of the windscreen (watch out for the small clips under the rubber)
Me, I tend to unbolt the plenum and move it to the left.
You have 4 bolts that hold the pack down onto the metal shelf.
Its a bit of a tw*t to get out but it will go ;D
The coil pack on a 2.5 / 3ltr is on the back of the engine on the right hand side.
If it is your coilpack, if you looking to keep the car for a few years its best to replace it with a bosch one. There not cheap but it will last a lot longer then the pattern ones.
You will find that the popping is unburnt fuel caused by a weak spark and the fuel is not burning properly.
If you leave it too long, you may end up knackering one of your cats because the fuel tends too collect in there then when it gets hot enough it will burn the cat out

True :(
I got the 2 lambda sensors the wrong way round and set fire to both off mine ::)
It was .........eh ............. interesting :-X :-[

Well i sorted out the rocker gaskets (all 4 of them) and changed plugs n leads, ive got a 2nd hand 1 that works for now incase its not that so i will crack on with that tonight and i will let you know how i get on tomorrow

Fitted new coil pack (t**t of a job) and shes running sweet but im still getting a eml which is intake manifold 2 volts low and incorrect rpm signal aswell as airmass meter but the crank sensor and airmass meter are new. Ive deleted the cods myself a couple of times but the come back after about 15 miles
-
Faulty crank sensor could bring up several codes and the eml so replace the cs. did you replace it with a genuine vx sensor or a cheap after market item. doubt it will be the MAF .
-
could the egr be at fault here?
-
Get a new dis-pack (not from stealer's) but make sure its Bosch from a good motor factors bout £70 :y mine went :y once out there was no outward signs of failure :-\ but egg smell went and cats saved ! Oh! and i could overtake things again :y
