Doesn't look electrically controlled to me - heavier springs/struts perhaps?

The opening action looks to be robust enough to cause injury.

Just bare in mind this is only an automatic opening system.  You still need to close it manually.

It's done using the boot release mechanism from a saloon to pop the lock, and compression springs added to the tailgate struts.  You'll also need the 3-button saloon remotes, saloon ATWS ECU, some other bits, and a Tech2 chat session...

I've collected all the bits to do both my estates... just need the time to install it all now...  ::)

Some top spec Vectra C estates came with a fully automatic tailgate setup, using proper actuators instead of gas struts.  There is a How-To on the Vectra C forum detailing how the system can be retro fitted to a Vectra, but I've yet to see it successfully installed in an Omega yet.  Although I do know of at least 1 person who is considering it...  :y

ok, thanks for the details. Seems that can not read the how2 on Vectra-C forum without logging in  ???

I'm very tempted to try the Vectra actuators on my Omega, would be the greatest mod ever  :D But, having no welder it would have to be some kind of a bolt-on solution for me.

I often wondered why they didnt do the top lift and lower dropped-if you get what I mean-that would be good

Because it's a real pain if you're trying to put something bulky and heavy in the boot. It's one of the few ways in which a Discovery is a better load carrier than a Range Rover.

Parked behind an insinia estate at the dumpit site the other day, the guy who was driving it pushed a button and the tailgate automaticlay closed, was a nice touch but was disapointed with the size of the estate boot.  :-\
