Just downloaded some old pics from a camera I keep in the car .
This was a MV6 bumper that I bought of BlackViper on here . I'm sure Dave won't mind me saying that it needed a " bit of work ".
It had been painted several times by rattle cans with no prep done prior to any top coat and looked like porridge . It all had to be taken back to a solid workable base which was a messy time consuming job. Once fit for painting I primed it using 2 pack high build and once cured gently flatted it back . I got my solvent based paint mixed up in Scotland . This is because only water based rubbish is available here and I just do not like it. I applied three coats of base coat over the primer and then at least 6 coats of Upol 2 K scratch resistent clear lacquer .
I left this for a few days to cure and then flatted with 1200 , 1500 and then 2000 paper then G3 compound and Autoglym super resin polish. I've got to do another flatting on the lacquer but wanted to wait another week or so.
I did this with a € 15 gun from Lidl and a little smart repair gun I got from E bay for about €8 . These have 1.2 and 0.8 nozzles resp. Great value and incredible performance .
The fog lights were stripped cleaned and the lenses polished with 1500 and 2000 grit and the G3 , brought them up like new .
The Z489 mix is the lightest available called " lighter on the angle " and is one of eight mixes available for that colour !

I've also subsequently fitted the standard lower splitter from the original bumper to the MV6 which finishes it off .

??? :o
Now I call this a good job.. Painting means high detail.. and it requires respect ,a lot of work to be done, time and expense.. You gave all those and get the result..
Well done Olympia :y :y :y :y
ps: scratch resistant laquer once hardened , high grid sandpapers are ineffective .. and once you use low numbers , this time polisher is ineffective.. So dont wait long to sand and polish( if necessary)

And as you spend real effort for this bumper, its better you cover the surface with 3M (highly recommended) , so stones cant damage it.. (tested and approved by me and many other car owners).. but only 3M.. :y

And don't forget the epoxy!
Nice job :y

Z489, same colour as mine and I tried to paint upper halves of the doors, got the paint from dealers and it was way too dark shade. You mentioned eight shades of Z489? Where can I find this paint?

Although I live in Ireland I come from Scotland . I get my paint from an Auto Paint supplier in Scotland that has been supplying paint for many years unfortunatley they do not post or ship paint I get a friend to send it over to me. It took me a couple of attempts to get it right . Mine is the lightest shade available .
I would suggest that you go to any reputable auto paint supplier and ask them to colour match your car using either a spectrometer or good old colour swatches. As I said ,my supplier told me there are eight different shades for z489 so they will be able to narrow it down to a close match.
Good luck :y
