Ok so I replaced my battery last week with a Vx go battery.
But summat ive been wondering is.....
Why do vx in yellow/red book and seperate vx battery book recommend a 55amp/h battery for a 2.2 when the original battery i took off was a 66amp/h battery?
Not that ive lost any sleep over it ;D But did wonder why vx fit a higher capacity battery from new......then spec a lower capacity for a replacement?...... :-/

Don't think so.... I would suspect either a mix-up with the original battery or a typo in the Book? :o
Anyway, what's the Amp rating for the alternator on your 2.2? It's not a diesel is it?

The yellow book is wrong, you need a 66amp battery.

The red book must be wrong and the yellow book and the seperate battery book the blokey in the parts department looked in too...... :-/
Too late now......its got a 55amp/h battery on it now.....
It starts it better than the knackered old 66amp/h battery ;D

When I replaced my battery recently, dealer said, according to yellow book, no I didn't want a 66 amp, I wanted a 55 amp.
Asked them to double check, which they did, and agreed the yellow book was wrong.
Bought a 66 amp.

Depends on wether it has air con or not. If it has then 120 amp, if not then 100 amp.

I thought all facelifts had aircon......cd's and above climate. :-/
I was thinking it was to do with electrical gadgets fitted.....ie maybe GLS had 100amp, CD and above had 120amp
I believe the gls doesnt have heated front seats or leccy window windows in the back.

The rating of the alternator has no relevance to that of the battery. The alternator is sized to run the accessories on the car with a little reserve for the battery.
The battery capacity is more related to the cranking current requirements of the starter motor and other essentials to getting the engine running (EFI system, fuel pump, glow plugs, etc.).
It could be that the rating of the OE batteries was adjusted according to destination climate. :-/

Thats summat i dont really understand in 'the book'
It says OE battery 70amp........
Then goes on to say....Aftermarket......then quotes
55amp/h, 66amp/h, 72amp/h, 85amp/h depending on what omega you have....
As clearly my original battery wasnt OE spec :-/
And surely a 3.2 or 2.5 TD would have a bigger batt than a 70amp/h :-/
