Thought not ! ;)
Admittedly doubling the distance, or chucking a few twisty bits in would make it a different story. ;D

Yes.Have ridden modern blades,R1,s etc and they are mind bendingly quick. Thers no way on gods earth is that old heap of shite with 100bhp deficit will out perform one in any scenario you can think of. ;)
My 12 year old cbr600 would have it for breakfast a light snack,so a newish blade wouldnt even need to get into its stride to leave it for dead off the mark,or any other speed range.

That fireblade wasnt being ridden to anywhere near it's potential.
I call shenanigans!!

Feel free to explain how a 70hp rat could beat that blade?
-
Looking at the take off by the guy on the blade there's now way he was "giving it the beans" ???
-
Actually, I'd say there are a few more than 70 ponies there, but not that many more.
Torque and horsepower are different things. A Vee Twin is all about torque. That, paired with the longer wheelbase allowng the rider to pretty much just drop the clutch with little risk of flipping the bike means in the 'Traffic light GP', Harley rules.
Here's mine, so yes I'm speaking from experience. :y (including the bit about doubling the distance and adding twisty bits. ;D)

Very nice example Turk. :y
There is no big issue with getting a litre sports bike off the line at near full chat tbh.lean towards the front a bit to keep the wheel down, and concentrate on balancing throttle against the clutch for a good launch. It was a fix mate, trust me. ;)
The Blade probaly only has about 80 or so torques, but it also only weighs about 180kg,so not much weight to pull. ;)

Well, the Harley won't wheely like the blade will at full chat. So the rider can just dump the clutch without fear of flipping it.
... And the blade riders a nonce! ;D

Apologies to Turk, but I hate harleys with a vengeance in the UK.
-
Sure, you can use 'full power', but you never have the low down torque a well sorted Harley lays down. It's simply not possible to just drop the clutch on a sports bike.
I've had years of owning and testing both sports bikes and Harleys and have worked in a Kawasaki, and soon to be Harley main dealer for the last 14 years.
I know this example is an unfair match because that's a full blown F1 car and the bike is not a GP bike, but from 1:16 sums it up. :y

Maybe this CBR just wasn't hungry then. ;D ;) http://youtu.be/7QDUZ8sI-Zo

You got that right. I stand by my original diagnosis,it was a fix,or the Blade rider was a retard. ;D
-
Another couple of examples: http://youtu.be/gE2zOXhSf3g . The Harley just looses, but for the first half the ZX14 is playing catch up, and here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Av0-E-KXWMs (I think the harley actually wins outright here).

Tho' like I said, a few twisties....and it's a different story. ;D

I think that sums it up rather well..... :y :y
There is no doubt in my mind that over a longer distance the Harley would have been left behind....... :y :y
No front brake, is that not against some EU rule/regulation?........... ::) ::) ::)
