Hi guys & Girls,
I have just been given a Nokia 6300 mobile, I have been told you can connect it to my computer to allow the transfer music files and to be able to save copies of the phone address book. I have been at it for hours going round in circles.
I have a pc running xp, a bluetooth dongle and the phone, can anyone pop round to show me how i can do the above.
I live in Hampshire, warm welcome assurred !!!

mate it's a doddle with Nokia software! what circles are you running in?!
Use PC Suite - download from http://europe.nokia.com/A4144905 - to backup your stuff, send messages, sort phone book/contacts, copy files and more.
I've also got a 6300 and found it quite simple to use most of it! The only thing is if you 'sync' your phone contacts with your email contacts (like in outlook) then the first time you'll probably end up with lots of repeated entries. but after the first edit, it should be smooth from then on (so my brother tells me!)
You can update the firmware too (don't do that without backing up all your stuff first tho!!.)
oh and using a usb cable is much faster then bluetooth or infrared :y

i cant remember what i had to do with mine, but it works
yep, no help at all!

Thanks for info so far, I have now got to the point where i can using Nokia PC Suite, view my phone contacts whilst connected, i can add/edit/amend any of the contacts and then refresh the phone so both phone and pc are showing the latest contacts list.
this shows there is 2way comms between phone and pc BUT i do not seem to be able to save the updated / any contacts list to the pc as a backup to be used in case phone is lost or stolen.
hope the above makes sense

I usually just go into "my computer" and you'll now see your phone in there. Just copy and paste the files from your phone to your computer.

I did as you suggested, I copied the files into a folder on my desktop BUT it copied the names of the contacts but not the phone numbers???
Any idea's?

Wonder if you could update the bt stack to get it working?
Did that to Tonygnome's M2000 to get his bt headphones working.

Unfortunately, yes. One of my phones won't let go of the carkit, and every noise it makes comes over speaker :(

I am guessing your thoughts on Mp3s are not positive, but I was making an assumption that the quality of reproduction though the Bose system would mean they would sound good ?
I am one of those who are happy with the sound quality from the in built system - i will have to cut back the hairs in my ears ;D

I think the bitrate used for bt is 11k. Never seen a hi-def bluetooth phone kit.
