I wonder if anyone would like to post a photographic list of common parts with their names and possibly part numbers? It could become a sort of OOF EPC.
I have been looking at the maintenance guide for changing wishbones and drop links and it doesn't seem too difficult but some of the descriptions are a little ambiguous for the hard of thinking like me.
Anyway, a photo with name for all common parts would be useful. Things like crank sensors, cam sensors, HBV's, EGR's etc etc etc.

Seems like a good idea to me. Most of us find pictures far easier to use when identifying different parts. :y

Sounds like a good idea - though saying that, there are various pictures of where they are, with arrows pointing to them. Are you thinking more along lines of photos of the parts out of the car?

Yes, pictures of the parts for ID purposes.
The various pictures with arrows are good for identification of where the parts are on the car but don't really give you a good idea of what the part looks like.
Sometimes it is easier to look at a picture of the part and then go and look for it on the car. This would be really useful for searching for parts on Ebay and the like.

Will take more pics next time I do some work on one...

As there are already many "how to's" with many good pictures, perhaps it just needs a "compiled" thread of the best of those, so they available as a reference, as well as the relevant "how to" ??
I'd offer to try and do this .... but ... I don't know the engines well enough !! I'd be sure to get too many things wrong !! and I'm cr*p with graphics software .....

Looking at the 'How To' for cleaning the 2.2 EGR, changing drop links and wishbones, there aren't any pictures.
Really just an idea that I thought may help some of us less knowledgeable guys. :y
