Chaps,
Thought you might be interested in this.
Just seen on another forum that Eurocarparts (no affiliation) are doing a deal. If you buy a can of oil they give you a free filter too. I just went on and bought 10 litres of oil with 2 of the most expensive filters I could find and when I checked out it not only gave me the filters free but also gave me 30% off! Got the lot delivered for £27. Not bad.
The deal runs out on Sunday, I think. You can up to a maximum of 5 filters. Wonder if I should have bought more? Oh well!
All the best,
J

I bought antifreeze 5ltr paid £12, my brother got oil, all filters and plugs for his golf v5 £42, my dad got all filters and oil for his vxr for £38.25.

Yeah, I'm feeling fairly chuffed at the moment. Hope it isn't a fake website otherwise my credit card is about to be hammered!

What oil did you get :-\ I added 2 lots of oil to the basket and an oil filter but it dont say its free :( im guessing it comes up as free once payment has been taken :-\ We have a depot near me to pick up from , just wondering if its an online promotion only :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\

You have to put the promo code 'bigdeal31' in the box at the bottom of the checkout page. It dropped my price from £66 to £41 !!! :y I didn't buy, but I'll go through it again with better quality oil! :)

The 31% off is for everything but the free oil filter is only with triple qx oils.

I was looking around the forums for some info on Triple QX oils, which I think is made by Petronas... :-\ and saw a reference to National Tyres doing a promo on oil and filter change. The promo has ended but I phoned them up for a quote on The Merc and it'll be £44.70!! :)

Hmmm maybe I should pre-buy some oil ready for when I get back.....
...how much oil does an XJR (1997) take chaps? ::)
-
Sorry, was in a bit of a rush last night so just posted the tip-off and legged it.
Yes, oil filter is for QX oils. Should be fine if you change it every 5k miles as I do, although I was buying this for my other car rather than the mig. You get a filter for every 5 litres of oil you buy up to a maximum of 5. The promo code I used was BIGDEAL31. Think that's the price reduction one.
No idea on an XJR but must be more than 5 litres so might as well get 10!

Indeed, a few good deals out there :y
But for oil, GM semi is tried and tested, and proven to work very well in the Omega, and is very cost effective on TC. As we recommend, generally on the forum, that oil is changed very regularly (3-5k, depending on fuel type, and past history), it makes sense to use the TC offer (if its convenient).
:D

:o ::) I think you would want to avoid a 1997 XJR at 8litres of oil, the V8 from 1998 take only 6.5litres ;)
-
Not as bad as the Range Rover @ 9.5 litres of oil per change!

Ok, tell me the V8 is better than the straight 6 and I'll shut up ;D ;D
It's a jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag man and it's got the proper jaaaaaaaaaaag engine in it :y

Yes, an oafish, uncouth V8 in favour of his beloved straight 6 will have Sir William Lyons rotating in his grave, for sure. Mind you, I suspect the current brand of Front wheel drive, estate, rebranded repmobiles carrying his badge will already have rendered him pretty dizzy. ;D
-
..although, having said that, the first time I had a drive in a V8 engined XJ, I had to ask if it was the V12. :-*

Which needs changing VERY regularly on the V8!

Not needed at that age, by the time it needs changing it will have been written off due to chassis rust.

Yep. Just ask aaronjb where the crispy bits will be. ;D Was quite shocked at the state of his donor. Not far off being held together by the wiring loom. ;D

Subliminally I must have the same fears as the first job (prior to the service) is rustproofing what's left of the underside ;D ;D ;D

If it's any consolation, when the worst does happen, it's clearly great fun cutting them up with a plasma cutter.
