Hi all.
Bit of help please, have had a good search around but not found what I need. All of a sudden on Thursday noticed that the gearbox lights were flickering like a Christmas tree. Drove car on Friday, and they got very bad, then the car with the spanner came on and box went into limp mode. Switched off and all fine, but kept going into limp mode.
Checked fault codes and it has stored a pending P0705 code. Followed the guide to clean out selector, looked okay inside, plenty of grease and not broken electrodes, cleaned out and regreased fitted and adjusted but problem not gone away. It is much better, but still flickers a bit but not gone into limp mode yet.
Questions - what grease should be used for the selector switch?
A lot of heavy rain recently, could that be the issue? If so to note the switch was bone dry inside.
Fault not fixed, although selector looks okay, is this still likely to be the issue?
Back ground info, ATF changed at 80k as routine maintenance, 10k ago. Refilled with Fuch Titan stuff from Opie Oils, filter changed too. Level has been checked and all okay.
Many thanks in advance!

water ingress could be the problem :-\ as for grease a smear of vasaline should suffice HTH :y

Thanks for the reply.
No other suggestions of how to proceed? If it is water ingress then is the only solution to replace?

Switch can often be removed, cleaned up and lubed with a little Vaseline. Worth a try as it's expensive new. There's a maintenance guide covering it, I believe. :y

Have already tried that, made it a bit better does not go into limp mode anymore but still flickers, so assuming it is only going to get worse with use. Used contact cleaner to clean up the switch, and applied silicone grease from Maplins to all of the inside and the seal.
Is there a way to test the switch and its contacts?
How do you remove the other half of it from the car, the half with all the electrics on!
Cheers
