Fek that :o
Still at least he wasn't doing pull ups and somersaults :-\

At first I thought 'Pah! I could do that!', but when he started going up the outside with no safety rope!! :o :o :o

what if when you got to the top and opened the bag and somebody had given you a bayonet type and you need an eddison :o ;D

I remember seeing it before, but I couldn't recall who posted it. What happened to Debs????
I don't mind heights, but I wouldn't feel safe doing that.
If someone said there's £1000,000 at the top, go & fetch it it's yours. They'd get beep off ;D

Don't know :-\ :( :(
Any ideas anyone?

WHAT YOU CAN'T SEE ON THE VID IS THE TOWER MOVING IN THE WIND : :'(
-
I couldn't even watch the full video..... :-[ :-[ :-[ yet I used to enjoy Rock Climbing when I was younger.... ::) ::) ::)

Tony H used to paint those things for a living, as I recall.
fair play, fella! :y
-
:D :D sod that for a game of soldiers ::) ::) ::)

The height is one thing. Wondering if some batsrad is going to turn the transmitter back on while you're up there is another. :o
-
Going through my mind all the time was the reliance on the work of others. Bolting it together properly, welding those climbing lugs on properly and so on. Sooner or later the thing will rust......
Maybe there is a market for redundancy i.e. the light has several bulbs and when one fails, other cuts in. Of course they would not be having to change the bulbs if they used the old fashioned last for ever type. I bet they use the low wattage last a few weeks guaranteed for ten years type.
Good posting. :y

That's where a decent lock out precedure comes in ... you make sure the key to your lock is in your pocket. :y :y

Only really 2 words spring to mind after watching that. ;D
-
I guess they dont employ portly types to climb on those climbing twigs ;D And making sure you went for a pee is a must before the climb ::) ;D

When they have finished if they are walking around like the lone ranger, you know it was still on. ::) ::) ::)

Yep that's right amongst other things we used to de and re grease the insulator pots on pylons so not only were you not double "clipped on" you also had grease on your hands, feet, and clothes :o Health and safety would have a coronary today. Admittedly I didn't work at the heights in the video only up to 300 feet but what you have got to bear in mind is if you fall more than thirty feet its almost always fatal, It's only the last couple of inches that kills you, the higher you fall from the longer it take you to die. On the up side when I did that job in the late seventy's I was on £400 per week when you add in danger money etc :y which was lot of money in them days, I'm a lot older and wiser nowaday's and could no longer do that job more than I could take my own appendix out with a rusty pen knife, plus I don't have the same upper body strength as I had back then, If you fell off a pylon you were left hanging there like a Christmas tree decoration on six feet of safety rope :o :o

Tried watching the last few minutes climb again ::) Nope still sea sick ::) Could they not swing someone over from a helicopter :-\
