Title: Thanks to TheBoy
Post by: tunnie on 04 October 2012, 20:42:00
For helping a useless student sort cambelt on FatherT's car.

Always nervous about doing a cambelt, was doing well until, got wedge in without issues, stripped everything down.

Of course it was in TDC when locked?  ::)  :-[ :-[

Anyway, got it all sorted & thats FatherT's 2.2 sorted for another 4 years  :)

You're welcome.

Bled the coolant through now?

TheBoy's top tip of the day, have it at TDC when you take the belt off, takes some of the guesswork out ;)

Stops it sounding like a tumble dryer full of bricks when you try to start it again, too. ::)

Bizarrely enough, even after Marks DTM Calib fixed the lifters and EGR pipe, remember it was still a bit noisey, esp after an "energetic workout"?  I never did get around to checking oil pressure ::).  But it seems a few weeks of Italian Tune Up solved it, that I forgot all about that issue until tunnie's 3.2 started making similar noises ::)
