Good Idea or Bad Idea?  Or are there just too many electronic components under the bonnet to make the job a No No.

:o Knowing what a small drip from a leaky HBV can do to a DIS pack; the concept completely soaking your entire engine seems just way-too risky!

A thorough clean using a cloth whetted with carb cleaner/WD-40 etc., but only a hand job.....Ooh-err  :-[  `you know what I mean!  ;D

Ahhhhhh, it's my memory retention that lets me dowm, it's about the same as a goldfish most of the time.

I have actually been quite busy the last few days, but thing's have settled down abit now.

As you mentioned "I wasnt getting out much" unfortuneately that has been to illness, this last few days I have actually manged to get out a little, so allthough I was the "hare" regard posts last week, I at least feel like the "hare" this week but in the way of galavanting arround the country roads.

Will be interesting to see what average posts I can maintain over the year.  I log on to the forum every night and it amazes me how many topics/threads there are which in turn leads me to asking/replying to the forum.

Debs  .. the only reason you don't want to steam clean it is .. you'd have to iron it after !!!!!

One of my thoughts as I started the thread was the actual STEAM CLEANING.  Which is pure steam, all the valeters I have ever used use the hot water jet wash systems, pre spraying with TFR and then hot water blasting the system clean.

Steam / pressure cleaning the engine / engine bay is known to cause the Aircon Compressor bearings to squeel in the following months.

I have actually considered cleaning the the intake manifold (the Plenum I think I saw it called on annother thread) with some Ali cleaner to give it some sparkle.

carb cleaner and a clean cloth works well on greasy pawprints on the plenum...

Take care where you skoosh it though.  It can melt some plastics.  brake cleaner is more 'gentle' as its designed for use where rubber (seals etc) are....
