Post by: OmegaAnglesey on 16 October 2012, 18:12:36

"00" 2.0i 16v CD Omega Estate Manual...

This is one of the worst Omega's ive seen and this guy seriously believes this is the top of the range Elite as he keeps saying, Its only worth scrap value imo its filthy in and out and when i say filthy that's just too kind and the engine is on its last legs running near to 100c and made a few loud noises before it fired up .. god knows how it passed its MOT. ::) ;D

Well at least he is donating 10% of sale to Headway charity.

It may just have taken him a long time to do the Ebay listing. There for the grace of god..............

One thing i like about looking at Omega's for sale when i get back in mine i appreciated it a hell of a lot more. So many dogs out there and that's one reason why the owner's are selling most of the time  :-\  although you just gotta keep looking you never know till you actually see the car  :y

I'll say £200 not a penny more, Needs allot of work doing to it and allot of ££££ spending involved.

Looks like the seller has finally realised its not an Elite and changed the listing to CD  ::) ;D

Even though its as bad as it is i'm surprised it hasn't had a bid of 99p as there's a scrap yard under a mile away who would pay around £150-£220 for the Omega I'd imagine, Plus you could take many parts off it  :-\

Well it's either you have low expectations and mine are high, either way its still a dog. I stick to my estimate on what it will make £200.. ::)

I just don't see the point in slagging something which maybe someone's pride and joy? Just because in your opinion its bad? Often things that are in bad condition/poor keep look bad, but priceless to some.

What does it matter anyway? Really pointless thread really, "look at this average Omega, look how rubbish it is"  ???

Did you consider it may belong to a member here?

Taking a closer look, at a glance:

The engine bay is really quite well kept, clean and bodge free.
Seat covers in place, so seats underneath would be in good condition. (slight assumption)
Rear tailgate, under the wiper arm has very little rust. Seen 03 Estates with more rust there than that one has.
slight damage to front bumper
Rest of the body work in good condition.

Could do with a hoover & nice clean, but that's not the cars fault

Add to that the donation, I really fail to see why you want to slate it so much  :-\

nope, mainly due to the fact he thought it was an elite.

Many log book errors out there, our Elite Estate is apparently an "MV6 Elite".

According to the log book  ;)

From what I could tell its been abused and had a hard life, something odd about this Omega doesn't add up and most likely seller is hiding somethinh that's why I started this thread. I doubt it will last long in its current condition mechanically... Definitely not as good as seller is stating it to be IMO ... If admins feel this tread is "pointless" delete/lock if you see it fit to do so..

Me being me.
having read what the op has said,
. Is there some unfinished buissnes between him and the seller,?
. Just seems he putting down the car a bit more than they usually,do with a bit of fun, this seems like all out war. I could be wrong.

Seen worse - certainly would not describe it as a dog - just because the owner "misdescribed" it as an Elite ???

And why knock his donation and suggest he shouldn't be driving?  Some people are small minded :(

Glad I was not the only one thinking this, I saw original advert it said Elite only once.

From what I can see its not been abused, its had seat covers put on, the rear tailgate has no rust.

It doesn't look too bad in the pictures tbh but what you can't see in the pictures is how it is mechanically  :y .. I didn't knock his donation's or suggest he shouldn't be driving  ???

(just in my opinion it should have been listed as spares or repairs someone could travel hundreds of miles based on his description and be real disappointed on arrival  :-\  it wasn't my intention to cause war like posts on oof regarding this :) just thought i'd share my thoughts on it )

You have to remember a 4 pot can sound very rough when cold, if

a) it has a pattern cat (they sound awful)
b) cracked manifold. (father T's has one, stone count it sounds awful until it warms up)
c) cracked exhaust manifold gasket.

All of the above make them sound dreadful, mines done 157k so far so good does not sound like that, but may sound rough from 100k onwards.

The engine was over warm before he started it and when he did start it the temp shot up near to 100c within a few seconds
(as said in post #1 in a round about way without the full explanation which is needed now)

I know how a 4 pot sounds when cold i have one and i know what you mean ;)

Again, nothing wrong here. You stop after engine has been up to temp, it will get hot. Start it afterwards it will be very hot, but should drop within a few minutes as the stat opens and fans do their job.

You appear determined to slag off this car, which is a worrying trend of OOF of late. (Not you, but others calling people thick/stupid) The forum has always been to help any member of a car in any state, it can be covered in rust with doors dropping off. But we will continue to help & not slag off a car or member personally.

If its been clocked, then thats fine. I've done the same with an Elite which had over 250k miles on it, being advertised with near 100k. But just because what you think of its condition, I think that's a little unfair, as its nothing a good clean, hoover & t-cut could not sort out  :)
