Post by: omega3000 on 18 October 2012, 11:52:16
Went to doctors today , final report was 3 prolapsed discs an un diagnosed dropped hip from birth together with spine nerve damage and arthritis in both hips :(

Good job i can laugh about it but these pain killers are helping albeit knocking me out  ::)

By doctors I assume you mean spinal specialist? It's impressive for a GP to be able to give that diagnosis considering the specialist training and diagnostic equipment the spinal team use ;)

Incidentally, I'm not belittling it. I have the utmost sympathy for you and hope that you can get some form of treatment and relief from the pain

Ahh, that makes sense ;) I hope for your sake it is only 8 weeks to see the team. Lazydocker has been waiting since the start of June and finally goes next Thursday :o Then it's just the wait to actually get something done ::)

normally cortisone must be given for some cases where discs apply pressure on nerves.. and its really useful as tissues expand by water and decrease the pressure.. but not sure for your case :-\

Unfortunately the spinal teams are flat out. Probably because spinal injuries are so difficult to prove either way and all these ambulance chasing companies trying to get compensation claims ::)

Funny, usually the first line of treatment for bursitis is complete rest and that's before the proper diagnosis in the first place.  The pain associated with bursitis is very different from anything else and is characterised by intense pain when removing weight from the joint, rather than when weight or strain is applied. :-\

Tramadol is what you want.
It won't stop the pain "per se", but once they kick in you won't give a toss regardless.

I wasnt told to rest at all , just straight in and jabbed in the hip bone before any xray or mri
::) diagnosis wasnt till after a second mri  :(

As someone in the medical field I would be concerned about that being used as the first line of treatment for bursitis due to the complications that can arise and the pain it causes the patient.  You may wish to consider a different consultant (lets put it this way if someone had put me through that kind of pain for no reason he and I would be having a 'chat' in a dark alleyway)

Im not kidding you , ive had cortisone in the elbows and it was nothing compared to the pain i went through with the one in the hip  :( wondering if this has caused more problems now you mention it but seems most of my problems are back related now  :-\
