Title: Bay seller
Post by: philsteward on 19 October 2012, 00:07:29
Anyone used "gasketsforclassics" seller?

They are listing the head gasket set and head bolt set for my 2.2 and wondered what people though?

Head set - 190516234609

Bolt set - 200653550164

Feedback doesn't seem bad but wondered if anyone had had any real experience.

Cheers in advance

Don't know anything about the seller, but are these gaskets, like cam covers, usually recommended as genuine only?

I've used a seller called Trechii loads of times for head gaskets and bolts, he's good and reasonably priced but I would only use genuine cam cover gaskets ;)

Thanks for responses, when I searched the forum everyone was mentioning Trechii, checked him out but he is not listing anything for my car.  Have emailed him anyway and he is looking into it.

Anyone know why he is okay?  Someone must have taken the leap of faith at some point in the past!

Also why cam cover gasket genuine?  Do the aftermarket ones just not fit correctly?

Have emailed andyc for a price on all bits as well so can see how much they come out at, would prefer genuine but also need to not spend too much (as usual!)

Have just heard back from Trechii and he has pointed me at the bay listing for item number 170729545879

A little unsure as that says it is for a Frontera 2.2 with X22SE or Y22SE.  From searching on this forum I had come to the conclusion these were quite different engines, am I incorrect?

Cheers

Now I am even more confused, he has just replied to say that my engine is NOT the Y22XE it is the X22XE.  I am sure it is the Y22XE, and I understand the only difference is emissions? So therefore the actual engine & gaskets are the same, just wiring is different.

This is turning out to be more hassle than I thought!

Okay, can't seem to edit my posts...and just got the wife to check the manual for the car and it states it is a X22XE, so guess he is correct, still did not realise it was the same as the X22SE engine though?!

Post 2001 had the Z22XE, only real difference between the 2 is the ECU and the inlet diameter is greater by app. 1mm

Ah thanks very much!

What are the differences between the X22SE and X22XE engines?

Y has a different compression ratio (slightly higher) for emissions

Sorry Rob, I was talking about the "SE" and "XE" bits!

I forget exactly what they're for, but every other month, Total Vauxhall list details about most every variation, and provide a key which explains it all :y

Off the top of my head:

X=Emission Type ie Euro 3.
22=Engine Capacity.
X=Compression Ratio.
E=Fuel Type ie Petrol,Injection.
V=Specific Information ie Market/Engine  specifics such as special features, Turbo cars have a letter according to the boost pressure

So as an example a Vectra 2.8 Turbo Elite would be Z28LEL,

But a Vectra VXR would be                                             Z28LET.
