Without wishing to cause,aggro,hassle or a 20 page thread of argument on the subject - is there any chance the limit could be raised a bit ?
I have hit the limiter four or five times tonight and currently have several PM,s I cant reply to - including one from an admin.
Im a technoretard so know nothing about the reasons or how much effort may be involved in changing it,but it is frustrating at times. :-\

Funnily enough, before I got sidetracked on discussing my big ego with a disgruntled member, I started typing a post about how many PMs were flying through the system (noticed due to the email notifier going mental). 31 members online, 9 at that moment sending PMs. I'm amazed at the numbers being sent, and surprised the system can cope as well as it does... ...but then I knew it would, my over inflated ego told me ;D
Right, we are having some server capacity problems, but there are some upgrades happening over the next couple of weeks. After that, once we have another baseline (basically, know/understand how/why its performing), we can look again at modest increases (though will probably happen a 1 extra PM per hour type thing).
2 things we potentially could do are:
Restrict the number of emails the system can send per minute (reducing the processing overhead for a given timespan, but potentially creating long queues for the email notification system)
Reduce the size of PM inboxes (reducing the processing overhead for the database, as the database will dramatically shrink)
I do know any limits are frustrating, and am embarrassed we're unable to provide a (stable) system without such limits :-[

Ask a sensible question. ::) :P ;D

Some notifications are quite delayed, if there is any relevance there?
Sometimes instant, sometimes 24hours or more.

Some are queuing back, but no way should it be that long, unless your mail server is not responding, in which case, we store and hold the email for a few hours, before retrying.
I'd say realistically, 20 mins is about the max delay we should currently see... ...although my notifications are getting dropped somewhere (hence why I was checking it earlier).
Anyone else not getting notifications, or severely delayed?

Some do ping in, as I check the inbox. Usually ones for pm's I had already read the day before.
Mobile or over wifi, makes no odds afaict. :-\

Any other problms (non OOF) with slow emails, knowing your email provider ::).
I'm a bit tied up with other stuff, but if it continues, I could look at the mail server logs to see if/when its leaving the OOF server, or if the delay is because we couldn't talk to your mail provider at the time...

It's no big issue, for me. In fact it's not even a small issue. So not worth wasting time on just for me. I log on more often than that anyway.
My provider is now yahoo, who took the addresses off Nokia, as Nokia couldn't cope.
.... no suprise there. ::)

I will be aiming for the Head of News output job though.The country needs some good old right wing news to counteract all the lefty stuff were bombarded with.Even Sky has a pinkish tinge these days.Uncle Rupert is getting too old and taking his eye off the ball. ;) ;D

I do deal with a number of sports journalists, also regularly speak with sky news iPad team. But good luck climbing that high, I'm having enough problems trying to get a scrum master course!

Thats because Yahoo! are looking to fill its capacity, as major players pull out from using their servers :-X
