Hi all,
Been having a thought on the recent experiences of buying my latest Omega. After travelling miles and seeing some absolute disgusting cars, would we be breaking any laws etc, if we reported back about an ad in the Trader, or e-bay that we had been to see. To warn other Oofers who might be going the see the same vehicle. I am only talking about vehicles that we have actually seen, not making an assumption about an ad.
Not saying that another person might buy the vehicle.... ;)
For instance, I went to see an Omega, with a pretty genuine sounding write up. I expect a few blemishes on a 9 year old car....but no mention was made about
the six inch crack in the corner of the windscreen. The seller has contacted me twice to say he has now dropped the price by £150, but my point is that one of you lot may have travelled many more miles than me to be disappointed. Lower price or not, I personally do not want to go through the hassle of getting a new windscreen on a new purchase !!!!! >:(
The same applies to the Estate I saw that was half a mile away.......I dread to think of any of you travelling miles to see it......since my visit, that car has reduced by £300....but I still would not touch it with a barge pole at £925, although 03 plate. If you saw what I got for a grand, as against that vehicle, he should be charging £300 ;)

I don't see why expressing your opinion to the advertiser would break any law. Indeed posting on a forum of interested parties that in your view what was described as lamb is mutton should be congratulated. :y

Example one......
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2003-VAUXHALL-OMEGA-CDX-AUTO-SILVER-/300787617206?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item460856cdb6
Large scuffs on bumpers, major crack in windscreen, few minor scratches around the body. nothing serious, engine reasonably clean, sounded good, drove ok, and inside cleaned. Came from High Wycombe before this owner, price was £990 when I looked at it. Said not happy about the cambelt, now advertising as changed in 2011. Price now dropped to £850
Example two
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201241488578269/sort/default/usedcars/price-from/0/price-to/2000/model/omega/make/vauxhall/onesearchad/used/onesearchad/nearlynew/onesearchad/new/radius/10/quicksearch/true/postcode/hp157sy/page/1?logcode=p
Body seemed rust free except for tailgate, a large amount of bubbles under the wiper. Wheel arches clear. Was £1295 when I looked at it, then after all my patter, it dropped to £995, now gone back up to £1095 !!!! Absolutely reeked of dog, lifted the spare wheel cover and dog hairs everywhere. Inside quite clean, started with no problem. Lifted the bonnet.....and my god !!! never seen such a filthy engine...oil everywhere, dirt where there was no oil, puddles of oil on the under trays. However, the engine sang sweetly !!! Christine noticed that the bottom windscreen trim was off. You will notice in the luggage compartment, a purple thing....this was an air freshener, which was fighting a losing battle !!!! Cambelt 6000 miles overdue.
Admin.....if you think this is not appropriate, please delete

Need to be careful here.
All of Terberts comments are observations which in his opinion makes the car not worth the money asked. Other people may take a different view, particularly if the seller is prepared to drop the price!
Why not contact the owner before driving to view and ask the obvious questions (eg cambelt, oil leaks etc), and if necessary ask the seller to email you more pics?
Agree if the car is a total dog or not as described then "name and shame"
Personally would not be necessarily put off of the two examples shown above - for the right price!! Remember the newest Omega you are likely to purchase is now 8 years plus old - you won't get perfection on a motor that old (expect rust on tailgates, rear wings etc)
