Has anybody tried putting an inline thermostat in the top hose so that a big strip down of the top of the engine is not required or am I talking rubbish
-
You would then need to remove the original stat - if you dont it might close up on you .....
-
The objective being? :-\
-
Tbh it's not that big a deal to get to the stat anyway :)
-
The stat does more than just control coolant flow to the radiator, it also controls a bypass passage that circulates coolant when it is closed.
It's not too bad a job once you get into it.
-
about 3 hours work and a
shit load of plasters if you have sausage fingers ;D ;D :y
-
Thanks for the feedback looks like a replacement then :-X
-
Before starting this job what seals and o rings should I get I will buy a new transfer pipe as I understand that this can disintergrate on removal. facelift V6
-
Thermostat housing should come with its rubber 0 ring...but be aware that the housing thickness may be different from that which is fitted and will require either the length of the bolts reducing or packing out above with washers.
Transfer pipe should also come with both 0 rings so thats about all required...apart from some coolant and "plasters " ;D
-
If you decide not to replace the transfer pipe then you'll probably need two new o rings for it :y
