Hi peeps, what do you think is the best approach for this?
The nearest WIM franchise to me is 80 miles away in Scarborough. Are they as good as what I hear Chesham are? I don't know. There is another place within 15 miles that also do full steering geometry. But will the local place do it properly, or just to Vauxhall's figures designed for a new car (not after 12 years of sag), as I hear WIM have come up with their own figures instead of just being within an acceptable range. Are WIMs recommendations available? I wouldn't have thought so unless you buy their services, although I know front camber is meant to be about 1'10"???
Has anyone been to the Scarborough WIM?
Also, what apart from camber bolts, track rods and rear track rods need to be galoushed in plus gas for easier adjustment?

If that's the 'HawkEye' Hunter, it's the same as WIM. The only difference I guess, would be the values..... :y

OK thanks, so do you think it'd be better to go to WIM then to get the proper setup, as oppose to a flash place that offers arch rolling boy race type stuff and tbh reminds me of the garages on Fast and Furious!

I had mine done by a place recommended on a WIM website link. I also corresponded with WIM to get the right settings for mine and it worked a treat. The figures and technique aren't obvious so I'd suggest going down that route. I double checked with the man who did mine as to whether he'd done any Omegas before. his comforting reply was "too many".

IMHO, it doesn't matter if they have all the gear or a spirit level and a couple of bits of string. It's all down to the operator and how they approach it. Some centres will always lazily adjust everything until it's "green" with no understanding of how the numbers affect the driving experience or tyre wear.
It can, therefore, be luck of the draw. Go there with some sensible basic settings and ask it to be adjusted as specified. They should give you a sheet showing the before and after settings, and if it isn't what you asked for, don't accept it.

I guess it depends how close you can get your setting on re build, and how new your tyres are.
Cirtainly if you value your rubber, keep it local. If at all possible. :)

In my experience, its just the front and rear trackrods. Soak it regularly for a good few days prior...

hi geoffr70 last year tried to get into wim at scarborough girl on reception did not appear to understand what i was asking? said she would get someone to phone me back. after 2days and no call i contacted wim at cheasham ,they told me there was no franchise in scarborough nearest one was LANGS at BOLTON lancs gave me there phone number and i phoned and booked went on day booked at time stated they where waiting for me even post lift empty ready for me told it would take about 1hr so went into town (5mins walk)had meal came back after approx 1 hr 15 mins car all done and road ested i would highly recommend you go there 1st class service which many members have been there and give you the same advice tony2

hi dbr i think it was around £110 but well worth doing my car was pulling to left badly when i went in came out drove straight as a dye (even let go off steering wheel at70mph not recomended) and still went straight no wander at all tony2

thanks tony2. I think that only once have I managed to get it set up with the steering wheel level and no urge to go left in the 13 years we have owned it. No funny tyre wear, apart from when the wishbones were goosed. Sad thing is I can't remember where I got it done that time.

Ok thanks mate, that sound strange though! I've been on their website and gone through the booking process for the 'Scarborough' franchise though, it seems WIM are allied with Blackboots. I haven't booked it yet though, it takes you straight to the payment page without first arranging dates and times or explaining how to, which I didn't like, hardly very customer focussed, just money focussed
