God news is i got my gearbox off and on today and changed the torque converter seal. :) :)
Bad News......Well it didnt fix the leak, the pump bush has gone. and the torque converter shaft is covered in score marks.
i am getting a quote on monday for the cost of repairing it.
oh well you win some you loose some looks like i lost this one! :'( :'(
-
Wouldnt it be cheaper to put another box in??
-
sorry to hear that marie. just hope its not to expensive when you get some quotes.

:'( Awwww.....`you did try-hard though; well done for the attempt! :y
Lets hope it`s not too costly to have repaired Marie. ;)
-
imo another box would definitely be the way to go.
-
We were lookin at it but the torque converter is tits too! due to the scoring it would need replacing.
And even if i do find a new box and torque converter its like playing the lottery again is it going to work or not?
think my best bet is to wait until i get the quotes in and see where to go from there. Dont think its going to be cheep but i can lower the cost buy takin the box out for them and takin it to them then refit the box myself with help from my friends :y

Im just about to brake a 2.5 auto so if the quotes are to high or if you want to go down the replacement route pm me with a offer I'll even deliver it for petrol money.
lee
edit i asume the boxes are the same need someone to confirm.
-
The box shouldnt be a problem but i believe the torque converters might be different.
some one on here should now surly!
Is this your motor your breaking or one you aquired? sorry hubby asked me to ask. hes just worried thats all,
Edit: Thankyou lee for your offer i would just like to wait for the quotes but i will defo PM you next week with an answer for you.
if the bill comes in high i will replace the box i think. still not 100% sure on what i am going to do.

it is one i aquired with a veiw to fixing and selling but ive taken most of the good bits off now so its probaly worth more braking.

mmmm auto boxes great to drive but murder when they go wrong, hope you get sorted at a decent price :)
-
when you fitted the box the first time did you struggle to fit it into place?
-
sounds a bit like the torque converter was not pushed fully back when fitted? :-/
Had same problems on a project car, had scoring marks on the shaft that went into the torque convertor
