Had a number of PM's/txt's over past couple of months asking about more codes, since had an inbox clear out so can't remember everyone who asked :-[
But its the usual offer:
Half price Sky TV (saving up to £333)
Half Price HD Pack (£61.50)
Free Sky+HD Box
Free Standard set-up
Plus
Half Price Broadband Unlimited* optional (save up to £45)
* Sky Line Rental £14.50 pm and Sky Talk required. Sky Network areas only. Broadband not yet available in the ROI.
New customers only, i've asked for clarification on this and its someone who has not had Sky in the last 12 months is classed as a new customer

Morning Mr T.
Have you got to have the HD package and if not is the half price tv, any package?

Basically any TV pack you spec up on the website, half that. Not sure if you must take HD, good question I will ask....
-
Just checked, yes you do have to take out HD to get the deal. :(
So £5.12 per month for that

Good excuse for a new TV? :D
Even if you take it out, should still save money overall...

Off topic tunnie but i wonder if you could help mate... Our sky broadband keeps dropping out i.e. shows the red light on the router every so often and then is ok for few days or a week or so and then does it again any ideas?? sky did replace the router for us a few months back when it did this before... :y

If you reboot the rooter as soon as you get the red light/problem, does it resolve it?
-
yep i`ve had to reboot several times.... also if the wifes online downstairs and the lad goes online upstairs with the ps3 she gets kicked off or it slows right down.... the routers located next to the phone line in the front window with nothing electrical around it....

Shitty Netgear router. Send it to landfill.

Actually, aren't Sky dishing out even shittier (if thats possible) Thomson routers, or is that O2?

That's O2 (last time I checked, anyway - I still have a couple of their rebranded Speedtouch routers here).
I called Sky earlier tonight ... to cancel (seeing as I never turn the box on!) - only to be told that their customer service systems were down :( I suspect I've been paying for a Sky+ box I don't use for the last two years as well as the Sky+ HD box, too :-[
Still, that went better than asking Virgin how to reduce my bill (their answer was "You can't, you're already getting a £16 discount" in a heavy Indian accent) ;D

We build our own, no netgear no Thompson. Been that way for some time ;)

Who did Uncle R buy to make routers, so I know what its based on.

Maybe this has been asked before? If so apologies. what has happened to the 007 Movie Channel?

Gone back to Showcase. It'll become Sky Movies Christmas in the next few weeks ;)

How much financial support does OOF get from Sky, in exchange for this promotional stuff?
???

It's a pity that, after all the hype, it wasn't actually a new channel. Just a re-branding of an existing one ::)

Not purchased anyone, designed & built in-house :)
Or so we are told, they may have asset stripped someone, but officially we are told its in house design.

I'm assuming uncle Rupert paid a fair chunk for the 007 rights so would have expected it to have lasted a bit longer. That said, how long can a channel that only has 22 movies last ::)

All available on demand still :)

I'd've thought so. This "I'm doing you a favour" free advertising rather taints the site IMHO.

Some of us don't have a fast enough BB connection for the full OD service ;)
Actually, that's a little unfair... I've not actually tried yet as I can't be bothered to connect the box to the router ::)
I need to either get a wireless bridge and connect the box, TV and BlueRay player (may as well wire the Wii into it too ::)) or start running the cat5 and do it properly ::)

It won't happen any time soon... I live in the middle of nowhere ;) I'm having enough trouble getting the line fault reported on the 24th of last month fixed ::) Current update is that it should be fixed by tonight but who knows? ::)

im wanting to upgrade to 3d now i have a 3d tv, got multiroom, movies & entertainment packs plus broadband. could do with a new hub as mines years old. any ideas. ::)

LOL, thats like BT insisting that they designed their homehubs, though everyone knows they are Huawei and Technicolor productions, with BT just giving the design spec for the middleware.
Know what chipset they've based it on? Certainly seems to be lots of requirements to restart the routers regularly, a la Thomson/Netgear junk.
Mind you, most are using reference designs from the likes of Lantiq, with their firmware, and a rebranded web interface.

Sky do not show loyalty to existing subscribers.
Leave for 13 months, then rejoin (if you miss it).
If you can't live without it, ring them and threaten to leave, see what they say.

My exchange isn't even LLU yet ::)
I thought there was going to be an improvement when they replaced all the lines recently (or I assume that's what they were doing with the long stretches of roadworks) but it just got worse ::)

I think it falls the right side of the rules, because tunnie (presumably) makes nothing from it, but is able to pass on valuable discounts to those that can make use of the offers.
As much as I dislike Sky, many members here have found it very useful to have access to these discounts.
So I don't see it as "advertising" for Uncle R, I see it as discounts for our members who wish to take up the offers :y
Does that make sense?
-
I agree - i have benefitted from Tunnies' kind turn and so have others. He does not gain from it and members do. It is like someone posting up a voucher code for a discount from a retailer or someone posting that aldi are doing half price chrome exhaust tips.
-
Speaking as a member, rather than from an Admin stance
-
All this technology and monthly outlay to access over 900 channels,at least 895 of which are utter shite. ;D
I must admit to having SKY,but a basic package* - which once upon a time cost £12pm but now costs around £25. ::)
I think its pretty decent of Tunnie to take the time to make these offers available to OOFers tbh. :y
*Definitely not 3D.I have never knowingly even seen what HD looks like yet. ;D
-
For the record, I get entered in to competitions if I refer people.
I've given discounts for a number of people, so far I've saved OOF members in excess of £1.5k
Some have contacted me with very, very poor installs, due to contractors. I have raised it internally, got people out within days & had the installs done right.
Recently I do get some vouchers but I need to refer a number of people, I've also been PMd a number of times asking when I get more discounts.
So I like to think I'm doing a good thing, as I save people a considerable amount of money.
You don't have to read my threads, if you are not interested in Sky then why read?

Here's a question...
My daughter currently payss for the Sky in our household because at the time she was the only one who wanted it. However she is moving out in a couple of weeks and will want to cut off her contract in order to take out a new one at her new addy.
Meanwhile SWMBO has got used to having Sky so she wants to take over the package herself. We have been told by one of the sales chaps in the local shopping centre that a contract cannot be transferred from one person to another, so we will need a whole new contract.
So... do we qualify as a new customer?
-
I've always said I get entered into competitions, not won anything. Vouchers wise, yet to make any money from OOF referrals.
What's the difference between what i do and people posting discount codes or cashback links?
You just can't please some people ::)

Sadly no, it's based on surname at the address, is it possible to resubscribe using a new surname at the address?

What happened to me... I never advise people to ignore things as it makes winding people up much harder :-X ::)

Not really, its not like he gets gains from it, so (again, from my personal opinion, not as a member of Admin Team) its not like he's selling. He gets a chance to win something, but I doubt he does it for that slim chance of winning a prize.
Going on tunnie's maths, probably 5 or 6 people have taken it up. Hardly any corporate gain. Yet the benefits on offer/available to our members is worthwhile.
Speaking as a member, I'm glad this is available to us, even though it doesn't interest me.
:-\
-
I should also clarify this is to established members only, I'm not giving codes to people who joined the forum just 5 mins ago & not even posted on the forum ::)
This is due to rules for me as its "friends & family" only, I'm not in it to signup random people.
-
See, I don't get the negativity. If your not interested, why post?
I am interested. Or was. I took up Tunnies offer last time round, and am very thankful to him for it.
Nice on Tunnie, and if he gets a benefit too, we're both happy.
Win win. :y

Btw still on case for you RE super planner. Not seen Project Manager for a few days, will catch up with him this week :)
