Been copying CD's to a USB drive, to play them through the USB socket in the car.
After 3 hours, the USB stick packed up! >:(
Not happy. >:(

I'm not familar with in-car usb, but I know for certain that they frequently get corrupted if just pulled out of computers and other things.

Ah, misunderstood. I thought packed up after 3 hours of in-car use. Doh.

Done a reboot, doesn't show up in drives on either computer.
Other sticks work OK.

Nope.

When you say was ripping music, I take it MP3 or similar, you haven't done something where the stick thinks its a CD Drive now?

MP3 format.
Nope, ripped about 6 CD's onto it no problem, in the middle of ripping the 7th, drive stick went dead.
It was one of Tesco's finest (and cheapest).
Ordered a proper one off the net.

Use decent quality USB memory, cheap ones are universally shite.. ...got a box of suspec ones here.
Of the cheap ones, the Play Readyboost enabled ones seem the most robust.
But try to stick to Verbatim, Sandisk etc.
-
Oh, and be aware that 90% of these brands sold cheap are fake.

I've been given one of the rubust 4Gb ones from work (sort designed to clip on laptop bag zips etc), thats been pretty smart considering the abuse it gets.
