Title: Going LED
Post by: Nickbat on 10 November 2012, 21:27:52
Well, my loft conversion is finished and the final touch is 14 dimmable cool white LED lights for the room and the stairwell. Absolutely great, albeit expensive in the short-term (but should recoup the outlay in reduced electricity consumption in a short space of time).

One tip: if you use LEDs on two-way stairwell switches, use dimmable bulbs, not regular. Why? The dimmable have built-in capacitors. Without them, the leakage across the live wires in the switches will cause the light to come on or scrotebag (word filter again: read f l i c k e r  ::) ::)), such is the miniscule amount of current needed to fire up LEDs.

Going to change the rest of the house over the next few months.  :y :y

you can get special dimmer switches but the cost a small fortune.

we hav started to sell led bulbs where I work, although not cheap they give a fantastic light output for not much energy :y
