Title: Obsessive tendancies
Post by: Martin_1962 on 25 April 2008, 12:55:38
Does anyone have habits which are getting obsessive.

Sockets must be turned off if no plug in them

Packet tablets must be pushed in a symetrical pattern

All biscuits must be ate in pairs

Anyone else have anything similar?

 ;D You`ve got it bad Martin!  ;D

;) A University of Notts. psychology research group recently advertised for participants in a study of obsessive-compulsive disorder.

They were looking for therapy clients who had been diagnosed with this condition.

The response was gratifying; they got 3,879 responses within just one hour after the ad came out.

All from the same person!.  ;D

Have to close open drawers
Eat biscuits in pairs too ---- that's not OCD -- it's me being a pig !
My desk at work always looks like no-one is doing any work there ( wait a minute .... no-one IS doing any work there!)

Mrs. KW is terrible. We have a couple of 2 way lighting circuits in the house (switch in hallway and landing controlling the same bulb, etc.)

If she notices the upstairs switch has been used, so the downstairs one is in the opposite state when the light is "off" she has to go upstairs and use the other switch to restore balance, thus completely defeating the object of the system. I keep meaning to swap over the poles on some of the switches to confuse things further... [smiley=evil.gif]

Me.. Other than collecting junk, no..

not sure i'd go so far as to call it obsessive, but i also need plug sockets to be off if nothing's connected, and i hate it if the bezel on my watch isnt at 12, and my girlfriend likes to play on that!!

I have a bad memory though, which means i have to follow a lot of routines which therefore seem obsessive

When filling up with petrol, it has to be rounded up (normally to the nearest fiver)

Last night I filled up, and paid by card (i normally just pay cash). Anyway, the pump kept cutting out (due to tank been full), and it was on £56.53... I couldn’t leave it at that.. so I rounded it up to £56.75... I wanted to round it off at £57.00 really, but thought that there wasn’t enough room left in the tank for it! (I’ve tried that before, and it overflowed a tiny bit)

Know idea why I even needed to round it up!

With cash its quicker if its a whole number as you don’t have to faf about with change, but on card?? god knows!  :o ;D

Bedtime on on a worknight, set the alarm, check it, check it, check it, check it again. Decide all's ok, start to doze off...check it again! >:(
Doesn't help that i don't work regular hours. I may start @ 4am or 9am so no regular sleep pattern. ::)

until recently i was exacty the same.starting work v. early or sometimes late,i was the same with alarm,checking/re-checking.i think when your body clock gets permanently out of sorts you dont feel quite awake half the time and have to keep checking on yourself.

This is usually down to a thing called (sorry!) age!  ;D ;D  I have seen it with my parents, and I now see it in myself; constantly having a routine (that's not so important when young) of checking, double checking, and having everything 'just so',  ship shape and Bristol fashion! ;D

Must have a freshener in the toilet, i.e. a toilet duck.

Drivers floor area in car must be clean, I hate stones or grit under my feet.

Start a 4 pack of Grolsch - must finish it.

I don't like to see crooked pictures hanging on the wall, but i wouldn't say i have to get up & straighten them, if it's my home then i do, but someone elses house, no.
Though i don't like untidyness, but having said that, i tidied up my garage & workshop last year & there's been a few times since that i couldn't find what i was looking for  :-[

years ago ,a mate of mine (a vicars son)couldnt bear to see anything placed on top of a bible. it didnt matter where he was,if a bible had something on top he would take it off,do the sign off the cross over the bible while reciting a quiet prayer in latin. used to get him in some strange looks .

I have a Catholic dear-friend whom will similarly perform the sign of the cross and silently mouth a prayer of protection in the name of Jesus when she gets into a car.
Actually, I find it rather heartwarming, but it does attract some strange glances from strangers.  ;D

She often jokes that it`s not a reflection on the standard of my driving.  8-)

No offence taken (or meant; of that I`m certain!) Albitz :y

You`re correct, I will have to get a more climatically correct picture taken for the (hopefully) nicer weather soon to come....but, TBH it`s still rather cool here in the mountains. ;)

I always load applications on my computer in the same order every day at work.  Outlook, Profile, HelpLine, PowerBuilder.  Every day without fail.  But before I do that, I get the most important thing sorted.  Coffee  :y

To be more climatically correct for This little island, would a wet suit be more appropriate ??
