Yep, they sure can :y

As a one time budgie breeder, I have had a few indoors talking. In fact, whilst its well know that the cock birds talk mostly, I did have a hen here that talked as much and as clear as Charlie.
Obviously my budgie had the correct female genes ;D ;D ;D ;D :y

Crikey! That'd take some doing. Our cat's so daft it barely remembers to breathe.  ;D

Ah yes....this was the case of the Great Budgie Riot. It was thought it was started by the Green Party, who said they would put up budgie seed by a whopping 200%, creating a fear amongst budgies that they would be released into the wild to fend for themselves.
I believe in this case, someone shouted 'David Icke' and threw in the clump of green, which was immediately attacked by the flock.

Will that do ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Seriously, budgies do like the occasional green food in their diet, and Dandelion, and G :yroundsel, are particular favourites

Incidently, EMD, just to screw you up more....did you know that all coloured budgies are really green budgies. ;)
Its the work of the light, melamin, pigments and your brain that says otherwise :y

Its a case of missing pigments and light refraction....budgies are basically made up of Blue and Yellow pigments, hence the standard green bird. Take away the yellow, and you get the blue bird. It gets a bit more complicated as you get to Opalines, Lutino's and Albino's, etc etc etc.....but you get the idea :y

Also Chromosones decide colour and sex of birds, so once you get experienced, you can mate a couple of birds and you will know what colour the baby hens will be and what colour the baby cocks will be. Just takes a bit of genning up :y

Hope thats given you a bit of an insight in laymans terms.....now go out and buy an aviary ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D :y

Reminds me of my younger days. The local park had a small aviary. One of the residents was a Minor bird that me and a friend taught to say f*ck off. You should have seen the expression on peoples faces when they said to the bird "give us a kiss" priceless! ;D

Difficult to say mate....its a case of a lot of patience. Mynah birds talk well and have, can have, a large vocabluary, Parrots also. Budgies are probably bottom of the list for speed of learning.
As I first said....it takes a lot of time and patience, just repeating time after time after time. You know you are on the right track when someone says hello to you and you reply 'Pretty boy, pretty boy' ;D
